The Corner Bakery  in the 300 block of South Lake Avenue was evacuated and the street was closed to traffic Thursday afternoon about 2:15 p.m. when smoke rose out of an underground electrical vault in front of the restaurant.

Lisa Derderian of the Pasadena Fire Department said the debris inside the vault apparently caught ablaze.

South Lake Avenue was closed from Del Mar Boulevard southbound to San Pasqual Street for about 30 as fire crews extinguished the blaze, Derderian said.

“Everything has returned to normal now,” Derderian said.

There were no injuries and no damage to the restaurant.
