Pasadena Water and Power will host its first virtual public meeting on Thursday, Sept. 26, to discuss the city’s plan for achieving carbon-free electricity by 2030. The meeting, scheduled from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., aims to engage community members in the development of a comprehensive Optimized Strategic Plan.
The Optimized Strategic Plan (OSP) will serve as a roadmap for PWP’s transition to 100% carbon-free energy sources while maintaining reliability and minimizing cost impacts on customers. Residents can attend the virtual meeting by visiting PWPweb.com/OSP or calling (669) 444-9171 with the webinar ID 878 4401 2192.
PWP is collaborating with Energy and Environmental Economics, Inc., a recognized leader in clean energy policy implementation, to develop the strategic plan. The OSP will consider new generation resources, infrastructure investments, and customer programs to facilitate the transition to carbon-free electricity.
Meeting recordings and other information will be posted to PWPweb.com/OSP as the process continues.
Last month, PWP launched an online Clean Energy Tracker at PWPweb.com/CleanEnergyTracker, allowing residents to monitor key clean energy targets and milestones as the city progresses towards its 2030 goal.
A community-owned utility, PWP provides electricity to more than 65,000 customers and water to nearly 38,000 households and businesses in Pasadena and adjacent communities in the San Gabriel Valley. As a nonprofit public service, PWP operates for the benefit of its customers and the community.
PWP encourages residents to stay connected with the City of Pasadena through its official website, www.cityofpasadena.net, social media channels, and customer service center. Residents can call the City Service Center Monday through Friday during business hours at (626) 744-7311 for more information.
