A Pasadena Fire Dept. water tender capable of supplying water to firefighters in remote locations staffed by a Fire Captain and Engineer was dispatched at the request of the U.S. Forest Service to support crews fighting the Alisal fire in Santa Barbara County Tuesday night.
The Alisal fire started Monday and exploded to 13,400 acres as of early Wednesday. It is only 5% contained. The fire is located 20 miles northwest of Santa Barbara within Refugio Canyon.
Over 765 personnel are fighting the blaze as of Wednesday, officials reported.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
Pasadena’s water tender is a large mobile water source that supplies water for fire suppression or serves as a tactical resource to maintain access roads for the incident, a city official said.
