Police arrested a woman Sunday night after they say she repeatedly bashed a man in the head with a glass bottle and tried, unsuccessfully, to steal his bicycle at Pasadena’s Washington Park.

The crime took place at about 9:15 p.m. at the park, 700 E. Washington Blvd., Pasadena police Lt. Sean Dawkins said.

A man in his 40s was approached by the suspect and there was an exchange of words, according to the lieutenant.

The woman then struck the man twice in the back of his head with a glass bottle, he said.

The man tried to walk away with his bicycle, and the woman struck him in the head again and attempted to wrestle the bike away from him, but failed, Dawkins said.

The victim was struck in the head a fourth and final time before he managed to pull out a cell phone and call 911, prompting the woman to cease the attack and flee, he said.

Responding officers found Troy Dominique Land, 37, of Pasadena nearby and arrested her in connection with the incident, according to police and Los Angeles County booking records. She was booked on suspicion of attempted robbery.

Paramedics treated the victim at the scene for an inch-long laceration to one of his ears, but he did not wish to be taken to a hospital, Dawkins said.

Bail for Land was set at $50,000 pending her initial court appearance, which was yet to be scheduled Monday morning.
