Pasadena’s Health Officer this morning issued an official city order which says in-store retail sales and in-person religious services can resume, and offices can reopen, more than two months after safer-at-home orders were issued because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The order from Dr. Ying-Ying Goh does not include personal services such as hair salons, nail salons and barbershops.

People are still encouraged to “remain in their residences as much as practicable, to limit close contact with others outside their households in both indoor and outdoor spaces,” Dr. Goh’s order read. “All persons who can telework or work from home should continue to do so as much as possible during this pandemic.”

Businesses, offices and houses of worship that want to reopen must have health and safety protocols in place.

“It may take some retail establishments time to abide by regulations and get up and running. whereas it may be quicker for others based on their ability to get staff back to work and abide by physical distancing, and sanitizing requirements,” said City of Pasadena spokesperson Lisa Derderian.
