The Legislative Policy Committee is scheduled to convene for its regular meeting on Tuesday, June 6. The meeting, which is open to the public, will start at 4:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber at Pasadena City Hall.

All the items on the agenda are for “information only.” No voting is scheduled to occur.

David Jones and Kyra Emanuels Ross will provide a briefing on state legislative matters, offering updates and insights on the latest developments in the state’s legislative landscape. This presentation aims to equip committee members with valuable information regarding ongoing state-level policy discussions.

Chris Giglio will deliver a briefing on federal legislative matters, highlighting key issues and updates from the federal level. The presentation intends to provide committee members with an overview of federal legislative activities that may impact the Pasadena community.

The committee will review the 2021 Report on the Status of Women in Pasadena. The report was commissioned by the City of Pasadena Commission on the Status of Women and prepared by the Center for the Advancement of Women at Mount Saint Mary’s University, Los Angeles.

It outlines various recommendations derived from its findings, primarily urging the Commission on the Status of Women to advise the City Council on data-driven actions.

The report also suggests opportunities for the Commission to directly contribute to advancing the status of women in Pasadena. Detailed recommendations are provided in sections covering workforce participation, leadership, women in government, and the impact of COVID on women.
