Pasadena City College is making arrangements for students from La Cañada Flintridge, Altadena, and other areas impacted by the fires to preserve their enrollment in classes at the beginning of the fall semester, which begins on Monday, August 31, 2009.

Several neighborhoods in La Cañada Flintridge, Altadena and Pasadena are subject to mandatory or recommended evacuations from the Station Fire.

PCC will issue a bulletin to faculty and students on Monday alerting the PCC community about the impact of the fires and offer assistance to ensure students who are evacuated do not lose their places in classes, according to Geoffrey Baum, who represents the affected areas on the Pasadena City College Board of Trustees.

“The terrible damage caused by these fires must not extend to our students’ access to their classes,” said Baum. “Faculty will be alerted and PCC student affairs staff will be standing by to offer assistance to these students who are trying to enroll in fall classes. Our prayers go out to the students, their families and neighbors and to the firefighters at this critical time.”
