Women who serve California’s community colleges honored PCC Trustee Linda Wah today, recognizing her with a Legacy Award from the California Community Colleges Women’s Caucus.

Wah has served as a trustee of PCC’s Area 5 – which includes the cities of South Pasadena, San Marino, and Temple City – since 2010.

In presenting her with the award, Nan Gomez Heitzberg, a trustee in the Kern Community College District, said with Trustee Wah, “you will get wisdom from the depth of her life experience.

“Linda inspires us all to learn more, to do more, to create more, and to make a bigger impact,” she said.

Trustee Heitzberg shared plaudits from a range of leaders in the community college system. Deputy Chancellor Daisy Gonzalez, who served as acting chancellor last year, said Trustee Wah’s “passion to lift up women students and marginalized communities is part of her lived experience at the very heart of her vision for a world that needs to become a reality.”

Trustee Wah co-founded the Women’s Caucus of the California Community Colleges in 2020 as a place for unity and support for women across California’s two-year public colleges. In accepting her award she highlighted how the nearly 400-member organization is becoming a powerful force within the community college system. “The real legacy [of our work] will be the sustainability of this movement,” she said. “The strength of this caucus is to serve as an advocate for women going forward.”

In addition to her service to PCC, Trustee Wah is on the board of the Association of Community College Trustees, which advocates for community colleges at the national level. She was elected president of the California Community Colleges Trustees in 2019.

At PCC, her trusteeship has seen the establishment of dual enrollment agreements with PCC’s local K-12 school districts. She has also advocated for the PCC Promise, which provides free tuition for qualifying students.

The Women’s Caucus advocates for advanced opportunities and equity for women across the community college system. PCC’s superintendent/president, Erika Endrijonas, serves as co-chair of the organization.
