For the first time in two years, the Pasadena City College women’s basketball team will host a SoCal Regional Playoff game. The Lancers earned the No. 14 seed and will play No. 19 Rio Hondo College in Round 1 of the playoffs this Wednesday, Feb. 24. Tip-off is 7 p.m. at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.

PCC (16-13 overall) advanced to the postseason for the 19th time in 20 years under head coach Joe Peron. The veteran coach will be directing his 50th playoff game in his career this week. The Lancers hold a 32-17 record in all postseason games under Peron.

Pasadena tied for second place in the South Coast Conference North Division and will be facing another second place team from the Foothill Conference in Rio Hondo (14-13). PCC is 6-0 against all Foothill teams in the playoffs but will face the Roadrunners for the first time in the postseason.

The Lancers are an impressive 21-4 in home playoff games dating back to 1998 and are 19-2 in the history of the HP Gym, opened in 2000.

If PCC gets by Rio Hondo, it will travel to face nemesis and No. 3 seed Ventura College on Saturday, Feb. 27. The Lancers have already split two contests against the Pirates (26-4), defeating them, 62-57, at the College of the Sequoias Tournament in December.
