The Arboretum’s peafowl are descendants of birds brought to the Arboretum by Elias J. “Lucky” Baldwin in the late 1800s. To honor its peacocks, Los Angeles County Arboretum will be celebrating their beauty and legacy.

Enjoy arts, crafts, and a peacock costume contest. A special talk, Baldwin’s Peacocks, from the Arboretum’s Curator of Historical Collection, Mitchell Bishop, will explore the interest in peacocks in the late 1800s and how the Peacocks came to the Arboretum.

Other activities include informative walking tours about peacocks and story time for children. Join The Arboretum for Peacock Day and celebrate these beautiful birds. For contest details please visit www.arboretum.org.

Peacock Day: Beauty, Legend and Legacy will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2020, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden (301 North Baldwin Avenue, Arcadia).

Admission: Regular admission applies; members free.
