A 29-year-old pedestrian was critically injured early Friday when he was struck by a vehicle at a major Pasadena intersection, authorities said.
The collision was reported around 12:11 a.m. at the intersection of Lake Avenue and Walnut Street, according to Pasadena Police Lt. Andrea Perez.
Responding officers found the Pasadena man lying in the traffic lanes suffering from injuries to his head and torso, Perez said.
Pasadena Fire Dept. paramedics were dispatched to the scene where they treated the victim before transporting him to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, said Perez.
The driver of the vehicle, a 40-year-old Pasadena man, remained at the scene. He has not been charged or cited, Perez said.
The police department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision. It was not immediately known how fast the vehicle was traveling or if alcohol or drugs were suspected factors Perez said.
