Penn State and Utah Sold Out Their Rose Bowl Game Ticket Allotments

Both Penn State and the University of Utah have sold out their ticket allotments for the Rose Bowl Game on Monday, Jan. 2 in Pasadena.

Utah Athletics said they’ve sold 30,326 tickets through its ticket office for the 109th Rose Bowl Game, marking the second year in a row that Utah Athletics has sold more than 30,000 tickets to the game.

Last year Utah sold 32,319 tickets for the Utes’ first appearance in the Rose Bowl Game.

Earlier in December, Rose Bowl officials said they allocated tickets by conference and school: Penn State was to receive about 22,000 tickets, while Utah was to get 29,000, a hometown newspaper in Pennsylvania reported.

Utah said they’ve outsold their original allotment for both last year and this year, and had to request additional tickets from the Rose Bowl to meet strong demand from fans.

“Our fans are truly amazing, and continue to demonstrate the same passion to paint the iconic Rose Bowl Stadium in red again this year and support this incredible team,” Mark Harlan, Utah Director of Athletics, said.

“We can’t thank our fans enough, and we’re excited to see everybody fill the Rose Bowl as One Utah Family on Jan. 2.”

This year’s totals include some 2,800 tickets sold to University of Utah students, along with those sold initially to Crimson Club members through sales windows by donor level, and the subsequent public sale that has now concluded, Utah said. Last year’s sales included 1,856 student tickets.

Penn State is also expecting a large number of fans at the Rose Bowl come Monday.

“The Rose Bowl has such a rich history, and I can’t think of a better way to cap a terrific season and send our seniors off with a special memory,” Patrick Kraft, Penn State vice president for intercollegiate athletics said in a statement, Altoona Mirror in Pennsylvania reported.

“I know Nittany Nation will be excited to head to Pasadena to start the New Year.”

On Saturday Dec. 31, head football Coach James Franklin and other guests will join Nittany Lion play-by-play announcer Steve Jones for a special edition of the Penn State Coaches Show.
