They didn’t get to ring the celebrated Victory Bell in the end zone last night at the Rose Bowl because of the coronavirus, but Friday night’s Turkey Tussle shootout between the John Muir and Pasadena High School was a heckuva night for the PHS Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs clobbered the Mustangs 33-6, coming out way on top this time after 23 losses over the past two-and-a-half decades. PHS hadn’t beat Muir since 1995.
Pasadena’s powerful defense left Muir coach Zaire Calvin with no choice but to rotate in three QB’s looking for some magic, but nothing clicked.
At the final bell PHS Coach Dejuan Shamburger had led his squad to a perfect 5-0 season and grabbed the Pacific League’s top slot, with Muir closing out at 2-3.
