Councilmember Tyron Hampton and the City of Pasadena’s Economic Development Division hosted Peru’s Commission for the Promotion of Peruvian Exports and Tourism (PROMPERU).

The Invest Peru High Tech Forum brought together a panel of private sector investors and business experts to highlight investment opportunities in Peru, within the areas of high tech, trade, and tourism.

Attendees were treated to a post-event networking session with PROMPERU’s panelists and executive leadership team.

The delegation toured key life science institutions comprising Pasadena’s Bio Cluster, a global biotech hub rapidly being recognized as a leading example for municipalities and the non-governmental sectors of the community, to collaborate and leverage local expertise, and assets, to be competitive in tomorrow’s global marketplace of ideas and innovation.

“We are positioning ourselves as a global leader in the biosciences industry, with our cutting-edge research in cancer, diabetes, and vision correction,” Hampton said. “Peru’s request to visit and tour our innovation hubs such as the Bio Cluster is evidence that Pasadena is on the right path to remaining competitive globally.”

Conrado Falco, director of the Trade Commission of Peru in Los Angeles (OCEX LA) at PROMPERU led a panel of investment and trade experts from Peru.

Presentations included items such as potential collaboration between the US and Peru, investment opportunities in Peru for technology companies, and initiatives for Peru’s business sector to engage with Pasadena’s industries and companies.

“Pasadena is a leader in the tech and bio space,” Falco said. “We’ve had first conversations with different institutions and all of them want to help and share their recipes for success. That’s why we chose Pasadena over other cities in California.”
