Over 100 guests attended Pasadena-Foothills Association of Realtors Charitable Foundation’s 22nd Annual Wine Tasting, “Stepping Out for Worldly Wines,†an evening of Wine, Hors d’oeuvres, Auctions, socializing and entertainment on Thursday, June 27 at Il Fornaio to raise funds for local charities.
“The evening is already exceeding our expectations. It’s a lovely venue and Il Fornaio has been wonderful to work with,†co-chair Shelley Wingate said.
Il Fornaio enjoyed hosting the event as much as the guests enjoyed the atmosphere of the alley and the music provided by The Tony DiGiovanni Trio.
“We have catered off-site events before, but we’ve never been the location. It’s been a wonderful experience and we would love to do it again,†Il Fornaio event coordinator Natalia Robles said.
The highlights of the auction included a One Week Vacation at Rancho Las Palmas Country Club donated by Jeff Ellis, a Wine Barrel Bar donated by Kirk Dilbeck, Table Seating for Six at the Pasadena Symphony and Pops donated by Paul Jan Zdunek, and several wine baskets and bottles.
One guest made an extra special effort to prepare for the wine tasting evening and support her friend co-chair Chelby Crawford. Emilie Broughton made a necklace, earrings, and bracelet out of wine corks.
“I had to show off my Copla’s by making them earrings because they represent a fun night with my neighbors. I just wanted to support my friend and have a good time. They even asked me to auction one off so I’ll have to make more,†Broughton said.
The proceeds of the evening’s effort supplement the Pasadena-Foothills Association of Realtors Charitable Foundation. The PFAR-CF awards scholarships to ten local graduating students heading to college, and supports local charities actively involved in the community with a special emphasis on charities that have low administrative overhead or have a focus on disadvantaged and needy populations.
