Phlunté Riddle Announces Campaign for California State Assembly District 41

Dr. Phlunté Riddle, Psy.D, former District Director to Assemblymember Chris Holden, and State Commissioner appointed to the Board of Juvenile Discharge Hearings, announced her campaign for California State Assembly District 41 on Tuesday.

“I am thrilled to announce my campaign for State Assembly and continue the important work that Assemblymember Chris Holden has done for the Foothill and High Desert communities. I have served this region for nearly three decades and look forward to addressing homelessness, reducing crime, investing in our schools, and tackling the effects of climate change,” Riddle said in a prepared statement.

Holden, who is serving his last term, has endorsed her campaign, recognizing her dedicated servant leadership.

“As a lifelong Pasadena resident and a committed public servant, Dr. Phlunté Riddle has the skillset to get things done for the Foothill and High Desert communities. I worked closely with her to pursue solutions that work on critical infrastructure such as the Metro Gold Line and expanding access to quality higher education. I trust her to continue this important work in the State Assembly,” Holden said.

In addition to Assemblymember Holden, some community activists are rallying support for Dr. Riddle’s run for State Assembly.

“Dr. Phlunté Riddle has been a public safety leader in our community for decades, addressing root causes to keep our communities safe. I am thrilled to support her continued efforts to make the San Gabriel Valley, its Foothill cities, and High Desert communities a better place for residents and business community,” said former Monrovia Mayor Lara Larramendi.

“We need leaders like Phlunté Riddle who have the moral courage to stand up for what’s right and who won’t back away from our community’s toughest challenges. At a time when civil rights, women’s rights and LGBTQ+ rights are under attack, we need leaders at every level who will fight for equality and justice,” said Jon Fuhrman, Activist and Pasadena City Commissioner.

Riddle has assembled an experienced campaign team with roots in the San Gabriel Valley: Doug Herman and Danielle Cendejas of the Strategy Group, a national direct mail and political consulting firm that has been behind the victories of President Barack Obama, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, and Holden.

Dr. Riddle’s fundraising efforts will be led by David Pruitt and Christina Kegeyan. David Pruitt is a Sacramento-based fundraiser of David Pruitt Consulting, the lead fundraiser for California Assembly Democrats and the California Legislative Black Caucus. Christina Kegeyan has California statewide experience raising funds for candidates such as Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis and Assemblymember Holden.
