Finding a local restaurant open for business is now as easy as downloading a free mobile app.

The app that can be downloaded at www.pasadena.belocalstrong.com is the result of a collaboration between the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce and Small World Communications, to make it easier for people to look for their favorite open restaurants.

The app was unveiled Monday.

“I am very grateful that Rob McClinton and Small World Communications approached me with the idea for a web-based mobile application to support local businesses during the current health and economic crisis,” said Paul Little, President and CEO of the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce. “Rob and his company were very generous to put the app together at no cost to either the restaurants or the users and provide a simple to use guide to who’s open and what’s on the menu. All free for the business and the user.”

Small World Communications is a hosting and online marketing company focused on small and local businesses. It is the internet registrar of Designing Nation Holdings, and McClinton is the founder and CEO of both.

“Rob and I really saw this as a service that we could provide to the local business community and our residents,” Little continued. “Every opportunity for businesses to reach potential customers at no cost to them is very worthwhile.”

Inclusion on the app is available to any retail or service business in the greater Pasadena area. Businesses are not required to be members of the Pasadena Chamber to be listed in the app, a Chamber of Commerce statement said. The rose logo used for the Pasadena application was created by Oksana Latysheva of the Noun Project.

Small World’s “Be Local Strong” initiative also created a Monrovia “Be Strong Local” app, which has a bear logo.

Businesses that want to be listed on any of the sites can visit www.belocalstrong.com/home/submit-your-listing

The app currently only lists restaurants but retail and service businesses will be added soon, the statement said.
