Police chased a man on a bicycle who refused to stop when ordered to and ended up not only finding him, but also a gun and an ammunition magazine in bushes near his hiding place.
Lt. Pete Hettema said the officers saw a vehicle code violation on a bicycle being ridden by the suspect shortly before midnight Monday in the 400 block of North Los Robles Avenue.
The suspect refused to stop and darted down a residential driveway, Hettema said.
The officers never lost sight of the man and chased him into bushes at the end of the driveway, where he was found and arrested, according to Hettema.
In nearby bushes the officers found the weapon and magazine.
Since late May there have been multiple shootings in Pasadena, and one gunshot-related homicide.
Hettema said the bicyclist arrested was Fernando Zuniga, 35, of Pasadena. He is being processed at the Sheriff’s Dept. Inmate Reception Center in los Angeles and is expected to be released under the State’s no hold bail release terms.
