On Saturday the Pasadena Police Department’s Special Enforcement Section conducted a narcotics investigation in the 1800 block of Navarro Ave. During the investigation, several pounds of marijuana was seized along with a large cache of illegal fireworks in excess of 360 pounds.

The category of the fireworks were dangerous and illegal to possess in the State of California and County of Los Angeles.

Two male adults were arrested, Stacy Callum, 40, a Pasadena resident, and Derrick Lamar Johnson, 40, also of Pasadena, on felony narcotics charges and misdemeanor possession of illegal fireworks charges.

“This is the single largest seizure of fireworks within the City’s recent history,” said Police Chief Phillip Sanchez.

Last year the Pasadena Police Department and Fire Department’s Fireworks Taskforce teams seized a combined total of less than 100 pounds of fireworks during the July 4th holiday season.

The Fireworks Taskforce teams have been deployed since July 1st and will remain deployed again this year through July 4th.

The Pasadena Police Department would like to remind members of our community that Pasadena has a NO Fireworks, Zero Tolerance Policy, and if someone is found to be in possession of any amount of fireworks they may be subject to arrest and the fireworks confiscated.

The Pasadena Police Department would like to remind the public to remain vigilant during the holiday and to report suspicious activity by calling (626) 744-4241 or call 911 in an emergency. If you See Something, Say Something, officials ask.
