The South Pasadena Public Library features a music CD collection that is not to be missed. Music CDs are available in a variety of genres including blues, classical, jazz, rock, pop, country, opera, folk, holiday, world, and soundtracks. Music CDs can be checked out free of charge for three weeks at a time. People can find classic artists like the Frank Sinatra, Miles Davis and Michael Jackson as well as more contemporary CDs by Justin Timberlake, Florence + the Machine, Norah Jones, Coldplay, and Beck. Library patrons often comment on the collection’s variety and the eclectic, obscure titles in the Rock category. Children’s music CDs are also available free of charge for three weeks.

A central part of the Library’s collection is the Austin A. Ichinose Memorial Music Collection. Austin was a library employee and music lover who died in 2011. He built his personal eclectic music collection that he readily shared with others, so the Library staff and Austin’s family honor his memory with this special collection. It continues to grow and features some of Austin’s favorite artists like Nick Cave, Brian Eno, and the Flaming Lips. The Ichinose family continues to support this music collection so that new music titles can be added on an ongoing basis.

The South Pasadena Public Library is open seven days a week at 1100 Oxley Street. Online services are available any time. To learn more, visit the library, call (626) 403-7350 or go to www.southpasadenaca.gov/library.
