Over the past several months, small businesses in Pasadena and neighboring communities have been experiencing window smash break-ins during the early morning hours. The suspect(s) have used rocks, bricks or a tool to break glass windows and doors. Once inside the thieves remove money from the cash registers and other items of value from within the business.
The Pasadena Police Department would like to provide these helpful Crime Prevention tips:
• Remove cash from the register and leave it visibly open.
• Remove anything that may obstruct the view of the empty register and the front counter.
• Remove all valuables from view.
• Assure that the business is well lighted inside and outside. Inspect the lighting regularly to insure that it’s adequate and functioning.
• Invest in an alarm and surveillance system and learn how to operate them. Check and test the systems regularly to assure they’re functioning upon closing.
• If your business has glass doors and windows, the glass should be burglar resistant and secured with heavy duty bolts. Double cylinder locks are also recommended.
• Always report suspicious activity and/or persons.
Please assist the Pasadena Police Department with protecting your property and preventing yourself from becoming a victim.
