A man was left unconscious and possibly seriously injured after an altercation with a driver near Robinson Park that was witnessed by police officers Sunday.

Lt. Tim Bundy said that by chance patrol officers witnessed the confrontation, which occurred at 12:43 p.m. near the corner of Morton Ave. and Glorieta Street.

A man on foot exchanged words with the driver of a car, who got out of his car and punched the victim in the face. Bundy said officers saw the victim fall, strike his head on the pavement, and lose consciousness.

Officers detained the driver and called Pasadena Fire Dept. paramedics, according to Bundy.

The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Pasadena resident Robert Isham, was arrested for assault. Bundy said the victim was a 42-year-old man from Corona.

Due to the severity of the victim’s injury — Bunday said he did not regain consciousness at the scene, even after being treated by paramedics — detectives were called to the scene to collect evidence and documentation.

The suspect was later transferred to the LA County Sheriff’s Dept. Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles.

As of Wednesday morning, the victim’s current condition was not immediately known. The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact the authorities.
