A woman was detained after leading authorities on a pursuit in an allegedly stolen SUV that ended along Sierra Madre Boulevard in Pasadena on Sunday evening, officials said.

The chase began just after 7 p.m. when the woman drove a Lincoln SUV through a closure being operated by officers from the CHP’s Newhall-area office, CHP Officer Vince Ramirez said.

The chase continued at “relatively low freeway speeds” on the southbound 5 Freeway, then got onto the eastbound 210 toward Pasadena, according to Ramirez.

“The vehicle continued eastbound on I-210 to southbound SR-710 and continued through city streets of Pasadena and South Pasadena, traveling at relatively slow surface street speeds and yielding for traffic,” Ramirez said. “The vehicle continued into Sierra Madre Boulevard westbound and the driver voluntarily stopped on Sierra Madre Boulevard at New York Drive, where officers exited their units and took the driver into custody without incident.”

The woman was detained as officers investigated the possibility of DUI, as well as possession of a stolen vehicle, the officer said.

She was taken to a hospital for medical evaluation. An update on her condition or potential pending charges was not available Monday.
