Jenkins Announces “Dreams Come True” as Theme for 2014 Rose Parade® presented by Honda

In a ceremony Thursday evening, the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association’s Board of Directors confirmed R. Scott Jenkins as president for the 2013-2014 Tournament year. Jenkins will provide leadership for the 125th Rose Parade® presented by Honda and the 100th Rose Bowl Game® presented by VIZIO on Wednesday,
Jan. 1, 2014.

Jenkins revealed “Dreams Come True” as the theme for the 125th Rose Parade. “The 2014 theme is a reminder that not only is it possible to reach seemingly impossible goals, but that by boldly pursuing those goals, we have actually attained them,” said Jenkins. “Dreams have come true and continue to come true as a result of imagination, passion, creativity and hard work. And regardless of size or scope, dreams fuel the stories of our lives.”

Jenkins has been a volunteer member of the Tournament of Roses Association since 1982 and was elected to the Executive Committee in 2003. Throughout his extensive Tournament career, Jenkins has served on many committees and was chair of four: Formation Area, Float Entries, Queen and Court, and Services and Properties committees.

In addition to Jenkins’ many years of service with the Tournament of Roses, he is currently president of the Foundation of San Marino Community Church, a board member at Forest Lawn Memorial – Parks & Mortuaries, and general counsel of the Western Justice Center Foundation. He is also active in the Pasadena Rotary Club, Twilight Club, and Caltech Associates.

In the past, Jenkins served as president and trustee of the San Marino Unified School District, president and director of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, president and trustee of the San Marino Schools Foundation, chair of the Citizens Oversight Committee for the San Marino Schools Modernization Project, and elder at the San Marino Community Church.

In 2002, Jenkins received the San Marino Citizen of the Year award for his contributions to the community. In 2003, he was recognized with the Golden Apple Award from the San Marino Unified School District for his work with the schools. Professionally, Jenkins is a Partner with Hahn and Hahn Lawyers with a corporate and real estate practice.

Born and raised in Pasadena, Jenkins attended Pasadena High School. He received his A.B. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and earned his J.D. from the University of Southern California. He currently lives in San Marino with his wife, Cindy; they have two grown daughters, Courtney and Lindsay. Jenkins enjoys golf, weight-training, and reading. The Jenkins regularly participate in church mission trips to Africa and in August of 2012, they led an expedition to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.

The Pasadena Tournament of Roses is a volunteer organization that annually hosts the Rose Parade® presented by Honda, the Rose Bowl Game® presented by VIZIO and a variety of associated events. The Tournament’s 935 volunteer members act as ambassadors of the organization within the community and serve on one of 31 committees that ensure the success of the parade and game. Collectively, they contribute upwards of 80,000 hours of manpower each year. The 125th Rose Parade presented by Honda, themed “Dreams Come True,” will take place Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, followed by the 100th Rose Bowl Game presented by VIZIO. On
