Radio Stolen From Pasadena Fire Truck

[UPDATED] A man snatched an emergency radio from a Pasadena Fire Department truck on Wednesday, officials said.

The radio was taken about 11:15 a.m. from Truck 31 while it was at Station 36, 1140 N. Fair Oaks Ave., for a training exercise, city spokeswoman Lisa Derderian said.

Firefighters spotted the thief as he drove away but did not chase him, officials said. They reported the incident to police.

“The radio was quickly disabled so it does [the thief] no good,” Derderian said.

“It’s sad when equipment that assists in life-saving measures are stolen right off a fire truck,” she added.

The thief was initially described as a man in his 40s or 50s wearing a black polo shirt, according to Pasadena police Lt. Anthony Burgess. He fled the area in a black SUV.
