Rain to Taper Off Wednesday Afternoon For Several Drier and Warmer Days

Periods of moderate to heavy rain will continue over the region through the morning today with urban flooding possible and locally gusty winds, the National Weather Service forecast early Wednesday. Dry and warmer weather is expected Thursday and Friday with a chance of light precipitation over the weekend.

Officials are warning the public to be mindful of flooding danger Wednesday as rain continues to pelt the Southland.

“Rain will likely increase in coverage and intensity this evening, especially for Los Angeles County, in response to a strengthening jet aloft,” the National Weather Service’s Los Angeles office tweeted late Tuesday. “Roadway flooding and rock/mudslides are possible with significant water flow through local rivers expected. Be careful out there!”

Dry weather is expected to return Wednesday night through at least Friday, with a chance of light precipitation over the weekend.

Wednesday: Showers, mainly before noon. High near 60. South southeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. South southwest wind around 5 mph becoming east southeast after midnight.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 64. East wind around 5 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.

Friday: A 20 percent chance of rain after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 63.
