The Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) announced the awarding of $2 million in matching grants to 34 Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) throughout California. Rep. Judy Chu (CA-27), who helped bring three SBDCs throughout the San Gabriel Valley over the past few years, released the following statement:

“Entrepreneurship and small businesses drive the San Gabriel Valley’s economy. They are vital to our region since small businesses create two out of three new jobs. However, any small business owner can feel overwhelmed by the challenges of growing their business or just getting it off the ground,” said Rep. Chu. “SBDCs can provide free guidance and resources to help our entrepreneurs succeed — with consultations, assistance in creating business plans, and pointers on how to access capital. The SBDCs that have opened throughout the San Gabriel Valley have already helped numerous businesses. Access to state funding is crucial and I am glad to see support from GO-Biz to help more Californians achieve the American Dream.”

SBDCs are currently operating at Pasadena City College, the University of La Verne, and in San Gabriel. More information on SBDCs can be found here.
