Although the sinkhole on the 710 freeway offramp to California Blvd. is getting most of the recent media attention, a second closure — the Holly Street Bridge roadway, damaged during recent rainstorms — still continues after repairs were delayed by recent storms. Repair work is set to resume Monday, City officials said.
The bridge was initially partially closed Feb. 27 after being damaged by heavy rains and now is fully closed.
The repairs are expected to take two weeks and will include stabilization of the slope embankment, replacement of the curb, gutter, pavement, guardrail and chain link fence. The bridge is expected to reopen on or before April 14.
During the repairs, there will be a continuous road closure along both directions of Holly Street (towards Arroyo Dr. and towards Linda Vista Ave.).
The closure will remain in place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Drivers are urged to use alternate routes and allow extra time for their commutes.
The Holly Street Bridge is a major thoroughfare in Pasadena. It connects the Arroyo Seco neighborhood to the Linda Vista neighborhood.
