During this time, Ronald McDonald House Pasadena has remained open as a “home-away-from-home” for families whose children are receiving life-changing medical treatment at local hospitals.

Families like Ana and her daughter Maury who came to Pasadena from Mexico in March for a desperately needed hip surgery, and found themselves “safer at home” at the Ronald McDonald House.

“If my daughter gets sick, she can’t have her surgery. We feel safe here and are thankful the House provides us with everything we need,” says Ana.

With new physical distancing and cleaning measures put into place, Ronald McDonald House Pasadena is excited to now begin accepting new families to join those staying at the House since before the “Safer at Home” order went into effect. They are working with local medical partners, including Shriners for Children Medical Center and Huntington Hospital, to ensure the health and safety of families and children.

In addition, Ronald McDonald House Pasadena has recently expanded to a third house in the South Arroyo corridor. Moving their administrative offices over to the new connected property allows for additional bedroom space to open up in the historic homes on South Pasadena Avenue. Ronald McDonald House Pasadena will now be able to serve 17 families at full occupancy.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer an expanded home for families to stay when they are focusing on the health and recovery of their child. Since opening our doors in 2004, we have provided more than 24,000 families with a “home-away-from-home,” says Executive Director Mara Leong-Maguinez.

To showcase the new offices and provide a virtual tour inside the Ronald McDonald House, Mara Leong-Maguinez will be hosting a Virtual Open House on Wednesday, July 22nd at 5pm.

About Ronald McDonald House Pasadena

Since opening in 2004, Ronald McDonald House Pasadena has provided comfort, care, and support to families with critically ill children, keeping them close to their family, doctors and medical care in their time of need. Beyond walls and a roof, they provide families with a supportive and caring community during their most difficult times. Ronald McDonald House Charities are built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on the health of their child–not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal, or where they will lay their head at night. The Pasadena House is a program of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California (RMHCSC). To learn more, visit www.RMHCSC.org/Pasadena or find us on Facebook or Instagram.
