Rose Bowl Community Response Fund Feeds PUSD Students Ensuring That #NOKIDHUNGRY During School Closures

Considering the guidelines issued by local, state and national health officials to stop the spread of COVID-19, the Rose Bowl Stadium has closed its gates to both public and private event operations until further notice. Most importantly, though, we are deeply concerned about our community which continues to be impacted in a variety of ways.

Late last week, the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation pivoted its traditional mission of protecting the Rose Bowl’s future, to protecting the future of our community. The new “Rose Bowl Community Response Fund” has already raised significant dollars to support the many families of Pasadena Unified School District affected by the recent school and job closures, by providing weekend lunches.

The Legacy Foundation is proud to report that the COVID-19 Rose Bowl Community Response Fund has raised funds in support of 5,821 lunches to date, in just one week. These lunches will be distributed to Pasadena Unified School District students on the weekends, which began this past Saturday and Sunday.

Throughout the weekend, a total of 2,801 lunches were distributed to PUSD families. The remaining 300 lunches from the weekend were taken to Union Station Homeless Services, a local non-profit that helps local homeless individuals and families rebuild their lives. To see the gallery of photos, please click here.

Anyone can donate a tax-deductible gift at www.RoseBowlResponseFund.org in support of the PUSD families.  As America’s Stadium, the Rose Bowl wouldn’t be what it is today without a community that has supported it for nearly 100 years — we are thankful for the opportunity to impact the community in a positive way during this time.
