Rose Queen Nadia Chung and her Royal Court visited Pasadena Fire Station 31 at 135 S. Fair Oaks Ave. on Thursday to deliver charitable toys they had received at an earlier event to Pasadena firefighters, who have once again partnered with the ABC-7/Spark of Love Toy Drive.
The Pasadena Fire Department has supported the Spark of Love Toy Drive since its inception 29 years ago — without fail, in spite of the pandemic.
“We feel really grateful to the Pasadena Fire Department for putting on this toy drive and inviting us to be part of it, and we’re hoping that we can spread joy, and make sure that everybody has a great holiday season, and it’s exciting to help these kids,” Queen Nadia Chung said during the event.
Queen Nadia Chung and her royal court have made more than 70 community appearances so far since her coronation
“There are so many events that we do,” said Chung, “and it’s all about engaging in Pasadena and our community, and hopefully serving our community well. The New Year’s Day parade is just the pinnacle and culmination of all of that.”
And before heading off to their next visit of the day, each of the member of the court actually took a turn sliding down the fire station pole, much to their delight.
The Pasadena Fire Dept. is collecting toys through Friday at each Pasadena fire station.
