Congressmember Chu said, “I am proud to endorse Yarma Velázquez for the Pasadena Unified School Board! Her experience as a professor inside the classroom and as a leader in committees working with budgets and educational assessment, makes her the most qualified candidate to ensure that all Pasadena children receive a great education. I look forward to working with her to support our students and families in the City of Pasadena and across the region!”

In addition to Congressmember Chu, Velázquez has also been endorsed by the organizations representing 3.1 million Democrats and 800,000 union members countywide: LA County Democratic Party and the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO.

Velázquez said she has has been knocking on doors and meeting voters face to face for the last 6 months. She is a PUSD mother and tenured Professor at CSU Northridge.

“I am honored to have the support of Democrats and working families: two groups of people whose values have been instrumental to my own life. I look forward to working with them to ensure every child within Pasadena Unified has the ability to graduate with a good educational foundation that will serve them well into adulthood.”
