College Counseling at Southwestern Academy
From the first day of a student’s first semester until the day they graduate, Southwestern Academy’s (SWA)’s college counselors work with each individual to provide direction and support every step of the way. Regular, one-on-one college counseling meetings are required by Southwestern’s excellence policy to help guide students through the entire university selection, testing, and application process.

Chandler 3rd Grade Bear Den Scouts Visit Hillsides
It’s Feel Good Friday, and Hillsides are taking a cue from the awesome Chandler School 3rd Grade Bear Den scouts!
They created holiday cards and stuffed stockings for Hillsides clients and even shared a heartfelt poem about the importance of giving.

La Salle Special Thanksgiving Prayer Service
Last week, La Salle College Preparatory School gathered as a community for a special Thanksgiving Prayer Service before the start of its break. During the service, everyone reflected on what they are grateful for, offered a prayer of gratitude, and discussed what it means to be part of the community and how one can serve one another. “We hope everyone is having a safe and happy Thanksgiving break!”

St. Rita’s Girl Scout Troop 15161 Pays it Forward
St. Rita School’s The Girl Scouts worked with the Temple City Homeless Coalition to serve more than 50 people a hot meal this weekend. They prepared Chicken Pot Pie with all the trimmings. It was such a great way for them to serve others during this season of Thanksgiving. “Great job Troop 15161!”

A Great Year for Pasadena High School’s IFC Robotics Club
Pasadena High School’s Invicta Ferro Canibus #15157 (IFC) Robotics Club had a great 2022 so far, and it can’t wait to keep going strong in the 2022-2023 school year! St. Francis High School Students Share What They are Thankful For this Thanksgiving
“As we prepare for Thanksgiving, we take pause to count our blessings.” St. Francis High School is most thankful for the young men, the students who are the heartbeat of the school’s mission. Once again this year, the student body came together to collect well over 12,000 cans of food to support families in need. “May we always remember that it is in giving that we receive. We pray that the Lord will bless you and your families this Thanksgiving!”

Flintridge Sacred Heart Varsity Water Polo Team defeats LaSalle, 28-16
Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy (FSHA)’s varsity water polo team won their home non-conference game against La Salle College Preparatory (Pasadena, CA) by a score of 28-16. FSHA had a great opening day win for the Tologs against La Salle! FSHA thanks everyone who came out to cheer on their Water Polo Team.

Five Caltech Geobiology Grad Students and Postdocs Visit Blair’s IB Biology Classes of Ms. Reynoso
Five Caltech geobiology grad students and postdocs recently visited IB Biology classes of Ms. Reynoso at Blair High School to talk microbes as part of Caltech Educational Outreach program. Students set up Winogradsky columns with dirt brought from all over Pasadena, fed it from a selection of nutrients, and will be monitoring it over the next several months. They can’t wait to see what happens next!

Aveson Charter Schools: Learning Basic Human Relations
There are so many cultures to explore. These Aveson Charter School TK students learn from a classmate’s family about the Korean Day of the Dead or Jesa and a game often played in Korean households. These students feel fortunate when Aveson families share their culture’s traditions with their classmates. These are ways by which teachers can help children to accept each other, to recognize their basic human similarities, and to learn from the cultural differences of their classmates.

Gratitude Served With Hot Sauce – Thanks to You BBQ 2022
Pasadena Educational Foundation (PEF) hosted Pasadena Unified School District’s administration and facilities staff – the backbone of our school district – at our annual Thanks to You BBQ on Wednesday, November 16. The barbecue is a special once a year event when employees from various administrative departments and focuses have an opportunity to relax and socialize for a couple of hours. In the November sunshine, staff savored a meal together prepared with care by the Superintendent himself… and gratitude for dedicated service was offered to all. Hot sauce optional.
