For their sixth public appearance, the 2014 Royal Court sipped high tea with the seniors while enjoying The Tap Chicks at Pasadena Senior Center.

High tea with the Royal Court is a tradition the seniors have come to love and brings energy to the whole crowd according to Vice President of the Senior Center Sandra Burton Greenstein.

“It fosters community interaction by having the question and answers. It’s really fun to hear from the girls. Anybody who wanted to could read about each of the members of the court in the paper, but its fun to hear them tell their own story. And once you’re older, it’s stimulating to hear from younger people who have their whole lives to look forward and what they’re planning so its very upbeat,” Greenstein said.

The Question and Answer period was a favorite among several seniors. It was a time for a real chat with the Royal Court, discovering how they each envision themselves in 50 years, what challenges face them ahead, how they have time for so many activities and that two of the ladies are taken with boyfriends.

A young girl named Alona asked “Do you live in a real castle?”

Princess Katherine answered back, “Well we may not live in a real castle but there’s this house called the Tournament of Roses house and we all on our first day got to tour it and to us it felt like a castle.”

Princess Jamie and Queen Anne had both volunteered at the senior center before and said they were pleased to return to a familiar place.

“I cannot even tell you how excited I am right now. I have never been to a tea or had little tea sandwiches,” Princess Katie from La Canada said.

Princess Katie also led the crowd in learning the princess wave or how to ‘wax the Honda.’

The Tap Chicks had everyone laughing from the 9 year olds to 88 year olds who watched them perform The Little Old Lady from Pasadena, a song that began with ‘Anything Goes’ and then travelled through newer songs like YMCA and Gangham style, and several others.

The Royal Court each had big dreams of art careers, joining the medical field, working in the UN, becoming an ambassador, but they also each expressed their love for children and wanting to have a family. Some of the challenges they thought loomed ahead included keeping their priorities straight, paying back school loans, and keeping up with technology.

“The seven of us as we mentioned to have some pretty lofty dreams. But I think that we all have the hard work ethic, the dedication and the time management to get there. So the biggest challenge will be to keep making more dreams,” Princess Jamie said.

An enthusiac fan in the audience wrote a poem called “Rose Queen and the Court” which he read aloud to them:

Make way, Make way
Flowers of life, Fragrance with love
The Rose Queen and her Court
Riding high above
Are showcasing America with great accolade
It’s New Year’s Day
The world’s on parade
Each country bearing it’s dream
With a Rose Parade theme
Hear the future resounding
Make way, Make way
