Sheriff’s Dept. Recovers Body in Angeles National Forest above Altadena

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Air 5 recovered a body of a deceased hiker in the Angeles National Forest Sunday afternoon.

According to a statement of LASD Air 5, a hiker was walking near Inspiration Point, north of Altadena in the Angeles National Forest when he/she noticed the body of a male adult in a ravine below the trail.

Members of LASD Air 5 responded to the area and located the body at about 1:20 p.m. through a rescue helicopter.

The victim, identified as a Los Angeles resident, was pronounced dead at the scene and was air-lifted to Farnsworth Park, Altadena, where he was examined by a member of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

The preliminary cause of death is listed as trauma sustained during a fall from the steep trail.
