Gang Murder Suspect Arrested

The operation resulted in the seizure of six firearms and eight arrests

Thursday, Pasadena Police and Los Angeles County Sheriff Department detectives arrested a suspect in the January 9 murder of  Donnell Taylor in Pasadena.

The arrest came as Pasadena Police and Los Angeles County Sheriff Department detectives worked together to serve warrants and make arrests in connection with a series of recent gang shootings,  including the homicide of Taylor and an attempted homicide that occurred in Altadena on March 15th.

Police say the operation was the result of several weeks of investigations by Pasadena homicide/assault detectives and Altadena Sheriff Station gang detectives.

“Enhancing public safety and the apprehension of individuals responsible for these crime trends were of our utmost importance.  We accomplished this with a very successful operation that resulted in the seizure of six firearms and eight arrests,”  said Pasadena Chief of Police Phillip L. Sanchez. “Additional arrests are expected.”

Police say the following individuals were arrested in today’s sweep:
1. Steven Wright, male Black, aged 33, Altadena resident, was arrested for Homicide;
2. Hildon Jones, male Black, aged 34, Altadena resident, was arrested for Attempted Homicide;
3. Jaszmine Jenkins, female Black, aged 19, Monrovia resident, was arrested for Attempted Homicide;
4. Bengarmain Gay, male Black, aged 26, Altadena resident, was arrested for Warrant Arrest;
5. Jesse Johnson, male Black, aged 35, Altadena resident, was arrested for Non-Compliance and Warrant;
6. Eric Hartfield, male Black, aged 41, Altadena resident, was arrested for a Miscellaneous Felony;
7. Robert Rucker, male Black, aged  41, Los Angeles resident, was arrested for a Miscellaneous Felony;
8. Shamella Walton, female Black, aged 30, Los Angeles resident, was arrested for Child Endangerment.

Citizens with information regarding Altadena crimes are asked to call the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Altadena office at (626) 798-1131.
