South Pasadena Weekly Crime Summary April 24 – 30

The Weekly Crime Summary is a list of reported auto thefts, burglaries, robberies and other activities occurring in the City of South Pasadena. An alert and well-informed citizen makes you less of a target to a criminal. Remember; call the South Pasadena Police Department to report any suspicious activity.

Attempt Stolen Vehicle
4-30-13, 5 PM, 1600 block of Fair Oaks. ’02, Ford F-150. Suspect sees victim’s vehicle parked on the street and believes vehicle is abandoned. Suspect calls a locksmith to have vehicle re-keyed. While locksmith is working on vehicle, victim exits home and confronts locksmith. Victim calls police and suspect is arrested. SUSPECT ARRESTED: Male, Black, 24 years, Los Angeles.

Commercial Burglary
4-23-13, 10 PM to 4-24-13, 6:15 AM, 900 block of Lohman Lane (Racquet Center). Suspect(s) cuts lock securing side gate to gain entry. Suspect(s) then cut lock securing maintenance shed and take loss. LOSS: Gardening tools.

Assaults
4-29-13, 10:30 PM, 1300 block of Huntington. Suspect and victim are roommates and get into an argument, which escalates into suspect kicking victim.

ARSON
4-28-13, 8:20 PM, 1600 block of Oak (South Pasadena Middle School). Suspect(s) attempt to ignite four classroom doors on fire.

Expired Registration
4-30-13, 10:11 AM, Huntington/Fletcher. Suspect is seen driving with expired registration tabs on vehicle. Suspect is also found to have an expired driver’s license. SUSPECT ARRESTED: Male, White, 50, South Pasadena.

Drunk in Public
4-29-13, 7 PM, 100 block of Pasadena. Officers hear suspect making noises in a bush. Officers investigate noise and discover suspect swaying back and forth sitting under a tree. Suspect is found to be intoxicated and unable to care for himself. SUSPECT ARRESTED: Male, Hispanic, 33 years, Los Angeles.

DUI
4-26-13, 1:56 AM, Orange Grove/Oliver. Suspect is involved in a non-injury traffic collision and found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. SUSPECT ARRESTED: Male, White, 46 years, Torrance.

Daytime Loitering By Minors
4-26-13, 12:55 PM, 1100 block of El Centro. Officers see suspects on sidewalk smoking. Suspects appear to be juveniles out during school hours. Officers contact S1 who is smoking and S2 who is found to be a juvenile. SUSPECTS ARRESTED: (2) male, juveniles.

Theft
• 4-29-13, 8:55 PM, 1200 block of Fair Oaks (Pavilions). Suspects enter store and S1 places loss inside a bag. Employee sees suspects exit store without paying for loss. Employee confronts suspects and suspects walk away. Officers respond and locate S1 across the street. S2 is not located. LOSS: Detergent. SUSPECT ARRESTED: S1 – Male, Black, 52 years, Altadena. S2 DESCRIPTION: Male, Black, 50-60 years, 508, white hair, wearing a white shirt and black pants.
• 4-28-13, 5:30 PM to 4-29-13, 8 AM, 1200 block of Huntington. Suspect(s) takes loss from victim’s front porch. LOSS: Marble dog statues.
• 4-26-13, 1 PM to 4:15 PM, 700 block of Fair Oaks (Coffee Tea & Bean). Victim accidentally leaves purse on patio chair and leaves. Suspect(s) takes loss from unattended purse and employee later discovers unattended purse on chair. Employee contacts victim and victim discovers loss. LOSS: Wallet.
• 4-16-13 6:35 PM to 4-17-13, 6:35 AM, 100 block of Marmion Way. Suspect(s) cuts lock securing loss and takes loss. LOSS: Bicycle.
• 3-26-13, 1:25 PM to 7 PM, 1900 block of Huntington. Suspect(s) takes loss from victim’s front porch. LOSS: Parcel package.
• 2-27-13, 11 AM to 5:30 PM, 1900 block of Huntington. Suspect(s) takes loss from victim’s front porch. LOSS: Parcel package.

Identity Theft/Credit Card/Check Fraud
• 4-3-13 to 4-24-13, 2000 block of Meridian. Suspect obtains victim’s convenience check and makes check payable to himself. Detectives identify suspect through deposit and is arrested. SUSPECT ARRESTED: Male, Hispanic, 31 years, Alhambra.
• 4-15-13, 1100 block of Maple. Suspect(s) gains access to victim’s checking account and makes two unauthorized withdrawals.
• January 2012 to 4-14-13, 2000 block of La Fremontia. Suspect(s) uses victim’s social security number as employment and files 2012 tax returns.

Possible Prowling
4-25-13, 2:11 PM, 2000 block of Fair Oaks. Officers respond to a suspicious person riding a bicycle up and down driveways. Officers locate a possible suspect who is found riding a bicycle several blocks away. Suspect is stopped for a traffic violation and is issued a citation. Witness is unable to be contacted to determine if crime occurred.
