South Pasadenans Warned Against ‘Grinch’ Who Steals Christmas Packages Off Porches

Authorities have warned residents in South Pasadena about a woman who steals packages right off front doorsteps.

The woman, who was described by authorities as the “Grinch” based on the devious, anti-holiday spirit fictional character created by Dr. Seuss was captured in a surveillance video in the act of stealing a package from the porch of one of her victims.

The police have made the video public in the hope that someone might recognize the thief and alert the authorities.

Police were first alerted about the thievery when a woman from South Pasadena got suspicious that a package she was expecting last month failed to arrive. Upon checking her security video, she saw a woman stealing her package off her front porch.

According to the police, thieves usually have two modus operandi in carrying out this type of crime.

Det. Richard Lee was quoted as saying, “One is they just follow the delivery trucks, or they’re just driving around the neighborhood randomly and just looking out for packages.”

The woman is being linked to two other thefts that were reported in the neighborhood on the same day. The police are asking the public cooperation in identifying the woman caught on the video. Any information about the woman should be given directly to the South Pasadena police.
