Spring ArtNight Returns This April, Mini-Grants are Available for Smaller Organizations to Participate

The Spring ArtNight where Pasadenans enjoy a free evening of art, music and entertainment offered by prominent arts and cultural institutions is returning this April 29, David Reyes, a city official announced thursday.

This year’s ArtNight, which will run from 6 to10 p.m, will be primarily in-person once again — but attendees will still have the option to join some events virtually. David Reyes, Director of Planning and Community Development, said.

According to Reyes, a mini-grant of $500, funded by the Arts and Culture Commission, is available for smaller arts and cultural organizations who participate in the Spring ArtNight.

Applicants must contact one of the ArtNight partners and receive a letter of support from the organization in order to apply.

ArtNight event partners include Armory Center for the Arts; artWORKS Teen Center; California Art Club; Lineage Performing Arts Center; MUSE/IQUE; Parson’s Nose; Pasadena Museum of History; Pasadena Playhouse; Red Hen Press; Remainders; Shumei Arts Council; The Gamble House; USC Pacific Asia Museum; and City Hall.

After securing a letter of support, applicants should email their application for a grant to jfil-contractor@cityofpasadena.net

The deadline for the submission is on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. Applicants will receive a notice of award status by March 22.

Applications will be evaluated based on the appropriateness of the proposed programming for the ArtNight event and their demonstrated ability to produce the proposed programming, among others.

According to Reyes, the awards are contingent upon available funds and host site commitment. Organizations, ensembles and groups that are based in Pasadena will receive preference over those applicants not based in Pasadena, but all are welcome to apply.
