California State Senator Tom Umberg has thrown his support behind John Harabedian’s campaign for State Assembly in District 41, which includes Pasadena, according to a statement from Harabedian’s campaign.
The campaign quoted Senator Umberg praising Harabedian’s track record and work ethic, underscoring the need for effective representation in Sacramento.
“John Harabedian’s strong work ethic and dedication to building consensus to get things done is exactly what we need more of in Sacramento,” Umberg said. “That is why I’m proud to endorse John Harabedian for State Assembly.”
Umberg represents State Senate District 34 and serves as the Chair of the Senate’s Judiciary Committee. He was a U.S. Army Colonel, federal prosecutor, and small business owner, and once served as Deputy Drug Czar for President Bill Clinton.
Raised in Sierra Madre, Harabedian’s political journey includes stints as a Sierra Madre City Council member and Mayor. He has served as a prosecutor at the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, attorney at esteemed firms like Latham & Watkins, and in various capacities for the California Department of Consumer Affairs Acupuncture Board.
A distinguished academic background underpins Harabedian’s career, with degrees from Yale University, Oxford University, and Stanford University Law School.
Harabedian currently runs his own law firm. He also serves as a Regional Vice Chair of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party, Executive Board member of the California Democratic Party, and Board Member of the Immigration Resource Center of San Gabriel Valley.
