Professional Gardeners and landscapers will be able to trade their old backpack leaf blowers for a new model with South Coast Air Quality Management District’s leaf blower exchange program at Lawnmower Corner on Thursday, December 19.

Old but operational backpack leaf blower can be exchanged for a new STIHL BR 500 leaf blower, which is a powerful low-noise and low-emission model, for only $200. STIHL BR 500’s suggested retail price is $479.

Only professional gardeners and landscapers who live and work within the South Coast AQMD’s four-county jurisdiction: Los Angeles County, Orange County, Riverside County, and San Bernardino County will be allowed to avail the program. Up to 10 blowers per business can be exchanged.

Pre-registration is required. To register, call (888) 425-6247, Tuesday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Lawnmower Corner is located at 1657 E. Walnut St. For more information, visit http://aqmd.gov/tao/leafblowerexchange.htm.
