The City of Pasadena canceled its Concert In The Park event due to the impending arrival of a tropical storm driven by Hurricane Hilary. However, the Karol G concert at the Rose Bowl was still set to take place as scheduled on Saturday, August 19, according to a City spokesperson early Saturday.

Mercy and the Merkettes were scheduled to perform at Memorial Park on Saturday night.

“City events canceled out of an abundance of caution include Concert In The Park (Memorial Park) and few other smaller ones,” said City spokesperson Lisa Derderian.

The Karol G Mañana Será Bonito Tour’s second night performance however was still set to take place at the Rose Bowl. The stadium estimated attendance at 55,000.

The Rose Bowl said parking lots will open at 3 p.m., followed by a happy hour from 3-6 p.m., and shuttle operation beginning at 3 p.m. Stadium gates were to open at 5:30 p.m., with the concert taking place from 7-11 p.m.

The Recreational Loop will be closed from 10 a.m. until midnight, while the Equestrian Loop will remain open. Stadium lights will remain on for most of the evening into the early morning hours through Monday, August 21, for safety and security purposes.

Pyrotechnics associated with the concerts will be heard between the hours of 8:30-11 p.m. The firework displays will last for a few minutes at a time. All times are approximate and subject to change slightly.

This event will bring the usual impacts on nearby neighborhoods such as traffic and noise. The noise level for this event will be high and residents can anticipate hearing noise associated with this concert. Sound checks will take place sporadically on event days beginning at 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Residents can anticipate heaviest concert traffic on Saturday, August 19, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. and again from 10:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. For any resident questions or concerns on event days between the hours of 10 a.m. to midnight, please contact the Rose Bowl Event Day Resident Hotline at (626) 397-4141.
