Pasadena Police patrol officers responded to Blair High School on Thursday to investigate reports that several students had seen a student carrying a gun on campus the previous day, police said.
Pasadena Police Lt. T. Keith Gomez said responding officers interviewed the witness students at the school, identified and located the student who allegedly had been carrying the gun, and concluded that in fact the 16-year-old boy had been carrying a toy gun.
Follow-up investigation and searches determined that the toy gun carried on campus had been discarded by the boy. Officers were able to locate another toy gun at the boy’s residence during their investigation, according to Gomez.
Gomez said patrol officers handled the response. No detectives were involved.
It is unknown what action Pasadena Unified officials took in connection with the incident.
