Surprising, Nearby, Affordable University of the West Beckons Students and Their Families With April 1 Open House

University of the West, a private university located in Rosemead, California, will be holding an Open House on Saturday, April 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The open house will give prospective students and their families the opportunity to learn more about the university’s programs and what it has to offer.

“Three things make University of the West very unique, one of which is our cost,” said Enrollment Outreach Counselor Dr. Thomas Calobrisi. “We are one of the most affordable private liberal arts colleges in the United States, not just California or Southern California, the entire U.S.”

“Another thing is our diversity — about a 50-50 split at our school is domestic and international. So students on our campus will meet people from all across the world in all different walks of life. We’ve got students from every continent. It’s incredible the amount of people you’ll meet here from different life paths and perspectives. It really rounds out the education in a very meaningful way.”

Dr. Calobrisi also pointed to UWest class sizes.

“We kind of focus on this whole person education and an environment where we have a student-faculty ratio of 10 to one, so your faculty really know who you are. They are going to see you on campus and recognize you. You’re not just the face in the crowd, you’re not just the name on a screen or a number on a screen. Here at University of the West, we know everybody. We know all of our students. So it creates a really rich and personalized learning environment for all of our students.”
