[UPDATED] A man and a teen suspected of robbing a woman at a turnout along Angeles Crest Highway north of La Canada Flintridge early Sunday were arrested several hours later after they were found sleeping in their car in Pasadena, authorities said.
The crime took place about 3:30 a.m. at a turnout known as Valley View Point overlooking La Canada Flintridge and Altadena along mile marker 27.35 of Angeles Crest Highway, according to Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Chad Smeltzer.
Two women and a man, all in their 20s, were at the turnout when a car pulled up next to them, according to the lieutenant. One of at least two occupants of the car brandished a handgun and robbed one of the women of her money, he said. The robbers then fled.
Four hours later, police in Pasadena noticed a car matching the description of the one used in the robbery parked in the area of Garfield Avenue and Howard Street, Pasadena police Lt. Sean Dawkins said.
They approached and found the two suspects asleep inside, Smeltzer said. Both were taken into custody without a struggle, officials said.
The identity of the adult suspect was not available Monday morning.
