Take a Look at Amazing Mexican Mayólica

The bright, beautiful colors of this rustic earthenware are perfect for spring and summer months

Bright and beautiful, Mexican Mayólica pottery is still hand-made today using centuries-old techniques brought to Mexico by an Italian artist who carried his trade with him.  Every piece has a unique border, hand painted in classic Mediterranean color.

Some of the finest examples of Mayólica come from the studios of Gorky Gonzalez, who single handedly saved this ancient forgotten craft. Gonzalez melds fun characters with sophisticated techniques and brings together defining elements of Italian, Spanish, Japanese and indigenous-Mexican roots. Gorky Gonzalez pottery is world-renowned and it’s easy to see why!

Gonzalez’s workrooms have created exclusive horse and rider motifs for La Cañada Flintridge’s Adobe Design, Sue Stranger’s art-filled shop on Foothill Boulevard brimming with visual delights.

In addition to importing art and antique decorative objets, Stranger creates unique necklaces, bracelets and earrings by combining cultured pearls or semi-precious stones with, for example, antique Tibetan silver beads, all finished off with superbly crafted sterling silver clasps.

Or if you have a big event next month, send her a photo of your outfit and Stranger will design and create the perfect accessory to go with it.

Adobe Design will always have something you won’t be able to find anywhere else.

Adobe Designs is located at 852 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada Flintridge.  Call (818) 952-2004 or visit www.adobe-design.com.
