Tetra Tech, a Pasadena-based consulting and engineering services firm, has acquired Amyx, Inc., an enterprise technology services, cybersecurity, and management consulting firm based in Reston, Virginia.

The company announced the acquisition earlier this month.

A report by Business Insider said Amyx, Inc. will be part of Tetra Tech’s Federal IT division and will help Tetra Tech expand its use of advanced data analytics, cybersecurity, digital transformation and agile software development solutions for government and commercial customers.

Amyx will be integrated into Tetra Tech’s Government Services Group, the report said.

“The integration of Amyx’s high-end technology applications and cybersecurity services with our subject matter expertise in water, environment and sustainable infrastructure continues to expand Tetra Tech’s ability to provide innovative solutions for our clients,” Dan Batrack, Tetra Tech Chairman and CEO, said.

“The addition of Amyx to our Federal Information Technology Division enables us to expand the use of advanced data analytics, cybersecurity, digital transformation, and agile software development solutions for our government and commercial customers.”

William Schaefer, Amyx President and CEO, said their company will be adding expertise to Tetra Tech’s leading federal IT experts.

“Leveraging Tetra Tech’s expertise in areas such as Artificial Intelligence and experience supporting customers with very similar mission needs to our own, not only creates more value for our clients, but also establishes exciting opportunities for our employees to grow professionally,” Schaefer said.

The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Amyx is joining Tetra Tech’s Government Services Group.

Founded in 1999, Amyx, Inc. supports over 30 federal government programs by providing application modernization, cybersecurity, systems engineering, financial management, and program management support.

In 2022, the Washington Business Journal ranked Amyx as the fourth largest cybersecurity provider in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

Amyx, Inc. has worked with the Defense Logistics Agency, U.S. Transportation Command, Defense Threat Reduction Agency, Department of the Air Force, Department of the Army, National Guard Bureau, Defense Information Systems Agency, Department of Energy, Department of State and the General Services Administration.

Tetra Tech has over 22,000 associates working on projects worldwide, especially focusing on clear solutions to complex problems in water, environment, sustainable infrastructure, renewable energy, and international development. The company uses a “Leading with Science” approach to provide sustainable and resilient solutions for clients.

Business Insider added Tetra Tech’s measures to expand product lines and market presence through successive acquisitions are “noteworthy.”

In March 2022, the company acquired Piteau Associates, boosting its capabilities in advanced analytics for providing water management and geotechnical solutions to customers. It then acquired Axiom Data Science the same month, strengthening its advanced climate data analytics solutions offerings.

Tetra Tech presently carries a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy). It’s currently in the Top 11 percent – the top 27 – of 250 firms in the same industry.
