The Chapel at Pasadena, formerly called Prism Church, will have a full-time Associate Pastor for the first time starting on July 1, when Pastor Derek Berry joins the church staff.

Pastor Berry is currently the Pastor of Discipleship at Resurrection Church in Bakersfield. He, his wife Krystal, and their two young daughters hail from Houston, Texas.

An announcement posted on The Chapel at Pasadena’s blog page said the pastor will be making visits to the Pasadena church periodically until his official start. He preached at the church on Sunday, February 7.

“As our Assistant Pastor, Derek will be sharing the preaching load with Pastor Chuck (Ryor), as well as leading our Community Group and discipleship ministries,” the announcement said.

Pastor Berry is a graduate of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina, and Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. He begins his Doctor of Ministry distance studies this summer at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, according to the announcement.

The Chapel at Pasadena started on October 10, 2010 with the name “Prism Church.” In 2014, the church purchased the former Chapel of Roses, a Pasadena landmark that has served for eight decades as an ideal location for weddings.

At that time, the church leadership decided to change the name of Prism Church to The Chapel at Pasadena.
