The Doo Dah Parade Marched into Pasadena

Pasadena’s Doo Dah Parade took place Sunday morning, closing down Colorado Boulevard, between San Gabriel Boulevard and Altadena Drive. The street was flooded with eccentric locals and a full crowd of spectators.

Representing the Americans with Disabilities Act was the ADA Wonder woman. Wonder woman explained that she was fighting for justice for all Americans with disabilities. This includes putting ramps over stairways, opening up bathroom doors, and braille for elevator keys.

Another group marching down the street was the Bearded Lady Brigade; long beards hanging from each of the group member’s faces. The leader of the group explained that they represent all of the bearded women of the world and “women who stand to defy today’s beauty standards.”

Other groups included the Great Wall of China Marching Brigade, Women Pilots, an ET float featuring a pug as ET, and the Off Kilter Kilts Marching Brigade. Men and women marched in kilts carrying a sign, “Liberty from Pants!” Off Kilter Kilts is Southern California’s first multi-brand retail store for kilts.

The sun was high up in the sky and as a swimming-pool-car drove by, one of the spectators, Eddie Gallegos, said, “I wouldn’t mind carpooling with them.” Gallegos was referring to the Car Pool DeVille, a Cadillac with it’s own swimming pool inside.
