The Larry and Helen Hoag Foundation Awards Educational Grant to the Rose Bowl Institute

The Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation is excited to announce another major commitment towards educational programming and the growth of the Rose Bowl Institute from the Larry and Helen Hoag Foundation.

Based in Orange County, the Larry and Helen Hoag Foundation’s gift to the Institute will positively impact and support key dialogues and discussions that will continue to be a complimentary portion of the Institute’s early offerings to youth and community. One of the key aspects of the Foundation’s mission is to educate, empower and create greater opportunity for at-risk children to become independent, productive and contributing members of society.

The commitment from the Larry and Helen Hoag Foundation further solidifies the early momentum that the Institute has gathered after its initial launch in early August. For the second consecutive year, the Foundation will support the Rose Bowl Institute’s Women’s Empowerment Symposium which will take place virtually as a free educational platform for high school juniors and seniors and college-aged students on September 16th, 17th and 18th. The Symposium program aims to develop strong leaders among students with a goal of expanding nationally due to the growth of virtual and digital platforms.

The three days of the symposium will focus on programming surrounding the three key pillars of the Rose Bowl Institute that include sportsmanship, leadership, and citizenship. Confirmed speakers of the free event include former United States Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, soccer stars and Hall of Famers Brandi Chastain and Julie Foudy, ESPN host and MLB analyst Jessica Mendoza, former NFL Coach Jen Welter, star gymnast Katelyn Ohashi, and Basketball Hall of Famer and sports executive Ann Meyers Drysdale, amongst several other influencers and leaders in sports, entertainment, and business.

Through the mission of the Rose Bowl Institute, topical panels, speakers, and networking opportunities showcase female leadership, confidence, character, and more during the free virtual sessions. Young leaders of the future will benefit from the Rose Bowl Institute’s approach to learning from sports values and experiences.

The Rose Bowl Institute is a one-of-a-kind platform that champions key sports values such as sportsmanship, leadership, inclusion, equality, teamwork, and more through educational programs, intimate dialogues, and awards to inspire youth and community life. Last month, it hosted part one in a series dialogue on Race and Sports in spirit of Jackie Robinson. Thousands of viewers tuned in to the free, virtual platform hosted online to listen to insights and perspective from a star panel that included Sharon Robinson, Taylor Branch, Ronnie Lott, and Cobi Jones on the topic.
